When most people think of Reflexology they think “feet”. In truth though, Reflexology can also be offered by way of the hands, and in some instances is even more effective.
Reflexology for the hands is one of the safest and most nurturing sessions massage therapists can offer their clients (and themselves!). The hands are what we use to “grab hold of life”, thus relaxed, flexible and strong hands make it easier to eagerly reach out and grasp what life has to offer.
This training will teach you how to give a full relaxing Reflexology session on the hands, as well as simple techniques that encourage flexibility, strength and general well-being of the wrists and hands. In addition to the full-body benefits of Reflexology, this session is a very practical one for people who use their hands a lot (like massage therapists!) and/or experience discomfort in the hands and wrists.
The ancient therapy of Reflexology is based on the theory that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body. Proper stimulation of these points improves circulation, relaxes tension, nourishes the nervous system and assists the body in seeking its own equilibrium.
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to give a complete hand Reflexology session for the purpose of relaxation.
- Simple techniques for yourself and your clients that will contribute to flexibility, strength and the elimination of pain in the hands and wrists.
- The history, benefits and effects of this drugless therapy.
- The "zones" and "maps" of the hands.
- The location of primary reflexes on the hands.
- How and when to utilize hydrotherapy and paraffin treatments within a hand Reflexology session.
Please bring a bowl/tub for soaking hands, towels, sheets & hand cream/lotion. A manual is provided.
